Thaukothau was born from a deep love for Nepali culture and a conviction that the world needs more spaces where heritage doesn't just survive — it thrives.
"Derived from the vibrant Nepali idiom meaning "right then and there", Thaukothau is more than just a name, its just how we do business."
Founded in the heart of Kathmandu, Thaukothau emerged from the belief that the extraordinary artistic heritage of the Nepali community — its festivals, architecture, crafts, and rituals — deserves a champion who speaks fluently in both the language of tradition and the vocabulary of the contemporary world. Our founders, rooted in Nepali culture and trained in modern event production and visual arts, built this studio as a bridge: honoring what was, illuminating what is, and imagining what cultural life can become. Every project we undertake is an act of cultural stewardship — and an act of love.
We envision a world where cultural heritage is not a relic of the past but a living, breathing presence in modern life. A world where the festivals, arts, and wisdom of the Newar people inspire communities globally — celebrated with the same reverence for sustainability as for beauty.
We exist to revive the cultural traditions of the Newar community through thoughtfully designed events, visual storytelling, and curated exhibitions. Our mission is to create meaningful cultural experiences that reconnect people with their heritage while inviting a new generation to feel its relevance and beauty.
We work alongside communities, artisans, and clients — not above them — believing the best cultural work emerges from deep partnership.
From materials to methods, we commit to environmentally conscious practices that honor the earth as much as culture.
We push boundaries — merging ancient iconography with contemporary art, traditional rituals with modern stagecraft.
We never compromise the authenticity of cultural expression. Every decision is made with deep respect for tradition and community.
